Michelle Peluso, Citigroup’s global consumer chief marketing and Internet officer, takes the helm of Gilt, the online upscale shopping site, at the end of February. She’s been on Gilt’s board since October. Kevin Ryan, Gilt’s founder/CEO, will move to the chairman spot.
Before Citigroup, Peluso headed Travelocity. She joined that company after selling Site59, the “last minute deals” travel site that she created in 2000.
Earlier, she was senior advisor to Labor Secretary Alexis Herman and case leader for Boston Consulting Group in New York and London.
Ryan said in a statement that Peluso’s “deep Internet experience, coupled with her operating and marketing background, made her my ideal choice to be Gilt's CEO going forward.” He also noted that his worked closely with Peluso on Gilt’s board matters.
New Citigroup Michael Corbat announced Dec. 5 a corporate restructuring that will lead to the loss of 11,000 jobs, of which 6,200 positions are in the bank’s sprawling consumer unit. |
