Lisa Gersh is quitting the CEO job at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia after a five-month run at the troubled company.
The Oxygen Media co-founder agreed to remain at the helm until a successor with merchandising expertise is hired.
Martha Stewart, founder and non-executive chairman of MSLO, said in a statement that the company’s “media businesses are now repositioned for the future and we are excited about the potential of our digital, mobile, video and print platforms.”
Her goal is now to increase “capabilities in merchandising and to take full advantage of that opportunity for the benefit of our shareholders and all of our partners both at home and abroad.”
Gersh called it an honor to lead MSLO “with its iconic brands, loyal following and wealth of creative talent.” She believes its media restructuring is now complete.
Last month, Gersh announced plans to cut 12 percent of MSLO’s 600-member work force.
