The American Bankers Association has hired Ogilvy PR to work on general issues that impact the $13T sector, which employs more than 2M people.
The Washington-based group spent $6.3M in federal lobbying during the first nine months of 2012 on issues such as Dodd-Frank implementation, student loans, regulatory overhaul, privacy and online transactions.
Dee Buchanan, who joined Ogilvy in September, leads the ABA account. Buchanan served as chief of staff for the House Republican Conference chairman and Financial Services Committee vice chairman Jeb Hensarling of Texas.
Ogilvy joins sister WPP unit, Democratic leaning Glover Park Group, on the ABA payroll. GPG collected $160K from its banking client through the first-half of the year.
