Todd Larsen has resigned the presidency of Dow Jones & Co.’s business/news decision after a two-year stint.
In February, Larsen was passed over for the CEO spot at DJ&C when the company recruited Bloomberg Ventures chief Lex Fenwick for that post.
Fenwick succeeded Les Hinton, who resigned last July, as part of the fallout the phone hacking scandal in the U.K.
Larsen joined the News Corp. unit in 1999 from consultant Booz Allen & Hamilton. He also served as COO of DJ&C’s consumer media group and president of the consumer electronic publishing unit.
The company credits Larsen with being the chief architect of its digital strategy that has resulted in more than 1.3M subscribers.
Robert Thomson, editor-in-chief of DJ&C and managing editor of the Wall Street Journal, said Larsen was “an inspiring leader during his time at Dow Jones, providing guidance and insight when there has been a paucity of prescience in our industry.”
