Eight-term Republican Congressman John Shadegg, who retired in 2010, has signed on as lobbyist for Facebook for social networking issues.
The Arizona conservative Republican served on the energy and commerce committee and chaired the House Republican Policy Committee. He was succeeded by Ben Quayle, son of the former Senator from Indiana and Vice President candidate Dan Quayle.
Shadegg works for Facebook as part of Steptoe & Johnson’s government affairs and public policy group, where he’s managing director.
In announcing his decision not to run for re-election, Shadegg said he was eager to “pursue my commitment to fight for freedom in a different venue.”
Elizabeth Burks, former aide to 2010 defeated Democrat Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas, joins Shadegg on the Facebook business.
Facebook also uses Democratic party leaning-Glover Park Group for D.C. work. Its VP-communications Joe Lockhart was founding partner of GPG |
