WPP chief Martin Sorrell has hired Chris Wade, group director of communications for Guardian Media Group, for the new head of communications post for Europe, Middle East and Africa. He will take the London-based position in mid-May.

Wade will report to Feona McEwan, WPP’s group communications director. He joins PR team of Belinda Rabano, who from Beijing handles Asia Pacific communication, and Kevin McCormick, New York headquarterd North America PR chief.
Sorrell said in a statement that media interest in WPP and the ad/PR world has “risen sharply” in central/eastern European, Russian, African and Middle Eastern markets and “demand for comment, contribution and engagement from the U.K. media is at an all-time high.”
Wade is to work closely with Sorrell and other directors on communications matters and tackle internal communications duties..
The six-year veteran of the Guardian also spent a half-dozen years at Trinity Mirror plc, exiting as manager of its press office.
