German Chancellor Angela Merkel has tapped WPP’s Blumberry to guide her governing party’s push in 2013 elections.
Blumberry, part of WPP’s Germany unit Commarco, is tasked with developing the promotional presence of the conservative Christian Democratic Union of Germany and its candidates across various media, in addition to producing literature and other materials.
“In 2013, we want to be in the lead again, backed by a modern election campaign,” CDU Secretary-General Herman Grohe said in a statement.
A Merkel victory would place her second behind Helmut Kohl as Germany’s longest-serving chancellor. The New York Times last month called her the “most powerful politician in Europe.”
Blumberry, based in Berlin, is led by German PR and public affairs vet Lutz Meyer. EADS, Bayer and Lufthansa are among its clients.
The parliamentary elections are slated for Sept. 2. |
