Rich Dalrymple, VP of PR and communications for the Dallas Cowboys, will be appearing on-air for the NFL Network during Super Bowl week to dissect media and PR strategies.
The NFL said it expects more than 5,000 credentialed members of the press from 20 countries to cover the Super Bowl, set for Feb. 3 in New Orleans.
Dalrymple, a 24-year veteran of the Cowboys who guides the image of the league's most visible franchise and owner, will appear on-air to offer PR analysis of coaches, players and PR staffs during the media intensive week-long run-up to the game, according to the NFL Network.
That includes "Media Day" on Jan. 29 and the press conference involving both team's coaches on Feb. 1.
Sports Illustrated senior writer Peter King called the network's hiring of a team PR executive "a bit of a gamble," adding "I just hope he's honest when he hears a coach or player say something really dumb. Knowing Dalrymple, I think he'll find a way to get his meaning out."
Dalrymple started out at Oberlin College and the Univ. of Miami before moving to NFL PR. He was with the Cowboys for three Super Bowl championships during the 1990s. |
