Maryland has issued an RFP for PR and marketing services to promote its 529 college savings programs.

It wants a partner to develop messaging and events targeted at expectant/new parents, current parents/grandparents; adults with disabilities and/or families of children with disabilities, and minority and low-income households, according to the Maryland 529 RFP.

In conjunction with the 529 marketing department, the selected firm will create branding, advertising (radio, TV, print, digital) and print collateral to support the outreach.

On the PR front, Maryland 529 wants a partner to research, write and distribute press releases throughout the state and DC. 

The firm will evaluate social media efforts and make recommendations for increasing engagement, improving user experience and instituting new platforms, if necessary.

It will forge partnerships with organizations such as the Maryland Zoo, Port Discovery Children’s Museum, minor league baseball teams, libraries, Catholic Charities, Junior Achievement and CASA.

Maryland 529 plans to award a three-year contract with three consecutive one-year renewal options, beginning around July 1.
