Fort St. John

Fort St. John, a British Columbia city that supports a metropolitan area of 70K “dynamic, young and energetic” people, is looking for help to position it as a great place to visit due to its range of cultural activities and outdoor adventures.” 

The oil and gas capital of BC features “top-notch recreation facilities” and events that entertain people of all ages and interests, according to the RFP. 

"The Energetic City” aims to boost economic development, provide business opportunities, improve social conditions and enhance sustainability. 

The goal of its destination strategy is to generate growth, employment and investment opportunities through economic development strategies that reflect the unique character and resources of the community and region. 

Fort St. John has identified five pillars of the destination city plan. They are arts, culture, heritage, sport and business tourism. 

It wants to work with specialist firms in each category to “undertake background research, analysis, community engagement and reporting complete with recommendations” to achieve the goals.
