The town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina is seeking proposals from agencies that can help promote, maintain, and enhance the city’s downtown area.
The Research Triangle town, which is part of the Raleigh–Durham statistical area, is looking for an agency with similar government services experience that can promote the city’s downtown municipal service tax district area as the social, cultural, and spiritual center of Chapel Hill.
Scope of the work includes serving as an economic development leader for the downtown community by encouraging new investment, supporting businesses and representing downtown interests in policy issues; attracting people downtown through promotions, special events and marketing; establishing public and private partnerships by supporting basic infrastructure needs and improvements, increasing safety and cleanliness, addressing social behavioral issues and increasing visibility and knowledge of parking and alternative transportation options; communicating the accomplishments of the downtown community by strengthening relationships with area stakeholders; and serving as a spokesperson for the downtown community.
The final pricing of the contract will be determined through negotiation, but Chapel Hill expects there will be about $220,000 available for the work, which remains subject to budget approval.
