DC Housing

The DC Housing Authority plans to hire a PR firm to promote the re-launch of its transformation plan to lift residents out of poverty.

DCHA unveiled its “Our People, Our Plan, Our Portfolio” in Sept. 2019 to improve the lives of its residents “through human capital investments in social services, relocation assistance, entrepreneurship and job opportunities,” according to the RFP.

The program was designed to create communities and neighborhoods that support educational and life opportunities for children and the expansion of affordable housing.

That original launch failed to attract much attention from elected officials, housing advocates and public housing residents.

DCHA wants a partner to do PR for "Transformation 2.0", which will explain emerging trends and methods for financing and developing public housing and how federal and local government policies impact what can and cannot be accomplished.

The plan “will start the process of changing public notions of how new sustainable funding models can lead to vibrant mixed-income communities.”

The PR firm will create a strategic PR campaign to generate earned media opportunities to support DCHA, its leadership and Transformation 2.0.

DCHA wants placements in local, national, business, real estate and housing media outlets. The firm will get involved in social media activity and any crisis management situations.
