Rockies

The Northern Rockies Regional Municipality has released a Request for Expressions of Interest to gauge whether there is enough interest among firms in developing a tourism marketing program.

Located on the west slope of the Rocky Mountains, NRRM is situated in the northeast corner of British Columbia and covers 10 percent of the province’s land mass.

Fort Nelson is the administrative center for the NRRM, which is noted for the historic Alaska Highway.

NRRM aims is “to foster a culture of tourism in the region with the ultimate goal of developing the right environment which will launch a destination stewardship organization to carry the NRRM forward into a thriving, sustainable tourism future,” according to the document.

The goals are to increase local enthusiasm for tourism and educate people about the economic benefits; align tourism with the natural resources sectors; provide space for First Nations interested in participating in the tourism business and develop a powerful marketing  brand that resonates with all stakeholders.

Responses are due Dec. 1. Bidders must register here at NRRM’s electronic portal.
