San Mateo County plans to hire a firm to run a communications effort to promote its various pollution prevention initiatives.

It will issue a three-year contract worth $750K to $1M.

Located on the San Francisco Peninsula, the county has about 760K people and features the cities of San Mateo, Daly City and Redwood City.

San Mateo County’s Environmental Health Services unit runs anti-pollution efforts such as Healthy Nail Salons, School Share Tables, Fish Smart, ReFuel Your Fun (reusable propane tanks) and efforts aimed at hazardous household waste and used oil and filter recycling.

The selected firm will get involved in PR, advertising, marketing, and social and digital media activities.

The overall goal is to drive successful behavior change and increase and number of people/businesses participating in the pollution prevention programs.

Responses are due April 4. Interested firms must register at San Mateo County’s portal.
