Brent Rockwood has been named senior VP-corporate, community and PR at Pacers Sports & Entertainment, parent of the National Basketball Assn.'s Indiana Pacers.
He takes over for Bill Benner, who is retiring the corporate post, but will remain director of the Pacers Foundation. Benner's career spanned nearly 50 years, including a 33-year stint as sportswriter/columnist at the Indianapolis Star.
Rockwood, who will join PS&E April 2, is director of corporate communications & community partnerships at QEP Resources in Denver.
Earlier, he was PA & government affairs director at Devon Energy in Oklahoma City and a member of Eli Lilly & Co. sales/marketing department in Indianapolis.
Rockwood played a year on Indianapolis-based Butler University's Bulldogs basketball team.
The Pacers are tied for fourth place with the Washington Wizards in the NBA Eastern conference with a record of 37-28.
