SHIFT Communications has brought on Jennifer Purcell as VP. Purcell comes to SHIFT after having spent several years in-house at energy company SunPower and software company Bazaarvoice. She has also held executive positions at Edelman and The Ardell Group. Most of her experience is in the technology space, including consumer tech, SaaS and semiconductors, and for-profit and non-profit healthcare. Clients she has worked with include the American Heart Association, Applied Micro Circuits Corporation, AT&T, Curves, Globalstar, IBM, Oasis Brands, Merck, the Methodist Hospital in Houston and the National Osteoporosis Foundation. Purcell will lead SHIFT’s Austin office, with responsibility for overseeing account management.

Shelter PR has hired Emily Lu Aldrich as VP of national film and television publicity. Alrdich joins Shelter from Focus Features, where she was senior director of publicity and awards, working on campaigns for such films as Oscar nominees The Darkest Hour and Phantom Thread. Before coming to Focus, Aldrich headed up West Coast operations for Strategy PR/Consulting as director of national publicity. Shelter launched its film and television publicity division in December with the hiring of Paramount SVP, field publicity and targeted marketing Alicia Wyld and Focus Features senior director, publicity & events Jerry Rojas.

S&A Cherokee (Cary, NC) has promoted Marilu McQuilken and Mor Aframian, both of whom are part of its Cherokee Media Group division. McQuilkin, who has been with the company for 10 years, moves from director of meetings and events to senior director of events and marketing. Aframain, previously events and marketing assistant and online community coordinator, is now director of events and marketing. Before coming to S&A Cherokee, she was a co-founder of Redress Raleigh, a fashion-oriented events planning company.
