Kym White, global chair of Edelman's healthcare sector, will join Vertex Pharmaceuticals on May 21.
As senior VP & chief communications officer, White will handle corporate/product communications, media relations, digital/social media, internal PR and corporate social responsibility initiatives. She will report to Michael Parini, executive VP/chief legal and administrative officer.
"Kym has the skill, management capabilities and industry acumen we need to evolve our communications efforts as Vertex continues to emerge as a leading global biotechnology company," said Parini in a statement.
Vertex, a biotechnology company, founded in 1989, is located in Boston's Innovation District.
An Edelman spokesperson said the No. 1 independent firm is conducting a search for White's replacement.
