Edelman topped 16 bidders for the $250K Wyoming Office of Tourism account because it proved its “ability to be strategic thinkers and creators with a core focus on media relations,” WOT announced today.
The No. 1 independent firm also has the “insights and skills that will help WOT’s publicity program amplify other marketing programs, including paid advertising and travel trade efforts.”
Diane Shober, executive director of WOT, expressed confidence that Edelman will help The Cowboy State “stand out from other destinations in the world.
More than 8.5M people visited Wyoming in 2016.
WOT issued its PR RFP in October for a year-long program with media outreach targeted at travel writers, journalists and influencers, plus PR events (receptions, deskside appointments).
The state is launching the third year of its “That’s WY” campaign, which attempts to bring stories of Wyoming (outdoor adventures, Yellowstone National Park, culinary scene) to life.
Edelman Seattle will handle the business.
