The New York Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America is getting ready to salute another group of young communications-industry leaders with its third annual 15 Under 35 Awards.
Nominations for the awards, which will be presented at the 2018 Big Apple Awards gala on June 11, are open through May 10. Mentors, professors, managers and supervisors of exceptional PR professionals under the age of 35 with at least five years of work experience are encouraged to recognize their work with a nomination. Self-nominations are also being accepted.
“These awards have been known to be resume builders and have ultimately set up award winners for success within their current organization and beyond,” said PRSA-NY president Sharon Fenster. Previous winners have come from such agencies as Porter Novelli, Kwittken and Kellen, as well as from academia and in-house PR shops.

“The benefits you get out of it are really up to you,” said Cessie Cerrato, senior director of PR for Palace Resorts and a member of the first group of 15 Under 35 winners in 2016. One of those benefits is a one-year seat on the PRSA-NY Young Professionals Advisory Committee, and Cerrato said the perks of that included “being able to play an active role and have a voice in the organization.”
Award winners will be selected by a panel of distinguished PR pros. To find out more about nominating someone for the award, or becoming a sponsor, go the PRSA website.
