Boston University's College of Communication named Gary Sheffer, ex-chief communications officer at General Electric and senior corporate strategist at Weber Shandwick, its Sandra R. Frazier Professor of the Practice of Public Relations. In 2014 and 2015, Sheffer chaired the Arthur W. Page Society and continues to serve on the Page board of trustees. He also serves on the boards of the Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication, the Institute for Public Relations and several other organizations. Sheffer will teach classes in corporate communication, crisis communication, and financial and strategic communication management beginning this fall. He will also continue in his work with Weber Shandwick.

APCO Worldwide tapped James Yi managing director of its Southeast Asia operations. Prior to joining APCO, Yi was executive director of Asia Pacific at GLOBALHealthPR. He has also served as CEO and market leader for Korea at Burson-Marsteller and managing director for Vietnam at Ogilvy Public Relations, as well as holding senior roles at MAX Public Relations, Fleishman-Hillard, McCann Health and Baldwin Boyle Shand. APCO Worldwide CEO Brad Staples said Yi would provide “a great boost and energy” to APCO’s current offerings across the region.

DeVries Global has brought on Liza Abrams-Wisk as director of new business development. Abrams-Wisk comes to DeVries from The Bait Shoppe, where she was a senior vp, playing a major role in the creation of the company’s strategic communications practice. Before that, she was an account exec at Porter Novelli. In her new post, she is tasked with driving growth across the North America region, and will also oversee the agency’s marketing efforts. DeVries has also added Tracy Brosnan and Thom Hackett to its staff as creative directors. Brosnan has held executive positions at Grey Group, Publicis Kaplan Thaler and Saatchi & Saatchi. Hackett has worked with several global beauty brands for McCann Erickson Manchester, Grey and Saatchi.

Dress for Success Worldwide has added Dale Bornstein and Linda Findley Kozlowski to its board of directors. Bornstein, the CEO of M Booth, has led the firm’s drive towards integration and expansion, deepening and building new capabilities and recruiting best-in-class talent. She is currently serving a three-year term for the Public Relations Council, where she helps champion the SHEQUALITY initiative. Kozlowski, chief operating officer at Etsy, was previously COO at computer software company Evernote. She has overseen growth initiatives in almost every region of the world, including Europe, Asia, Latin America, Russia and India.
