PROI Worldwide has named Clare Parsons global chairman.
The appointment, which was announced during PROI’s May Global Summit meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, marks the first time a woman has chaired the global communications partnership.
Parsons chairs London-based communications agency Lansons, which she co-founded in 1989. She will serve in the global chair post for two years. She succeeds Richard Tsang, founder of Hong Kong-based agency Strategic Public Relations Group, who was appointed to the role in 2016.
PROI Worldwide, which was founded in 1970, is the world’s largest partnership of independent global PR agencies, maintaining a roster of 75 partner agencies in more than 50 countries. Combined partner revenues in 2017 accounted for net fee income of more than $868 million.
