Sitrick and Company has named David Churbuck head of the agency’s newly opened Boston office. Churbuck will also be a member of the firm. He joins Sitrick from software-as-a-service company Acquia, where he was vice president, corporate marketing. His past experience also includes stints as vp of global digital marketing at Lenovo and as founder and editor-in-chief of Forbes.com. Michael Sitrick, the firm’s founder, chairman and CEO said that he has long wanted to expand into the Boston market, but had not found the right person to run an office there until Churbuck. “His knowledge and expertise in the media, financial, and technology sectors, as well as in digital and social media will further enhance our ability to serve our clients,” Sitrick said. The Los Angeles-based agency’s Boston office joins its other outposts in New York, San Francisco, Denver and Washington, DC.

Marino has brought on Marty Berman as a senior content strategist. Berman joins Marino from Discovery Communications, where he created social-first content for Animal Planet and helped grow the network’s social media audiences. Previously, he was senior producer for SpaceX – the company founded by Elon Musk in 2002 – which designs, manufactures and launches advanced rockets and spacecraft. Marino’s client roster includes McDonald’s, Walmart, The Home Depot, Derek Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation, Crain’s New York Business and One World Trade Center.

Litzky Public Relations has appointed Josslynne Welch, a 20-year veteran of the agency, to the role of president. Welch was previously executive VP and director of client services. Michele Litzky, who founded LPR in 1988 and has served as president for three decades, will now become CEO. During her tenure, Welch has led work for such clients as Hasbro, Inc.; The Toy Association; TTPM and Kamik. LPR has also brought on Marie Baker, formerly a senior manager at Bayer and a VP at Coyne PR as director of strategy, and added clients including American Mensa, National Geographic, and Pacific Cycle.

PMK•BNC senior director of public relations Gita Amar has been appointed to the California Complete Count Census Committee. Sworn in this week, this statewide panel includes community members that will guide California’s outreach for the 2020 federal census. Amar has been a senior director at PMK BNC since 2016. Before that, she was a self-employed senior media relations consultant as well as a senior consulting producer at Fleishman-Hillard Communications and a senior media relations consultant at Golin Harris.
