The PR staff of the Minnesota Vikings has won the Pete Rozelle Award from the Professional Football Writers of America. Named for former NFL commissioner Pete Rozelle, who started his sports career as a publicist, the award recognizes excellence in dealing with the media. During the 2017 season, Minnesota's PR staff consisted of Bob Hagan (executive director of public relations) along with Tom West (director of public relations), Jeff Anderson (executive director of communications), Jon Ekstrom (public relations manager) and Sam Newton (public relations assistant). The other nominees for the Rozelle Award were the PR staffs of the Buffalo Bills, Denver Broncos, Los Angeles Rams and Miami Dolphins. The Vikings finished out last season at the top of the NFC North, losing to the Philadelphia in the NFC Championship game.
LaVoieHealthScience and Duffy & Shanley were among the agencies recognized at the June 13 Bell Ringer Awards, which were given out by the Publicity Club of New England. LHS won a Silver Bell Ringer Award in the Investor/Financial Relations Campaign category for a strategic communications campaign executed for Ampio Pharmaceuticals to promote its therapy Ampion, which treats osteoarthritis of the knee. Duffy & Shanley won a total of nine Bell Ringer Awards at the event, including a Gold Bell in the National Publication Placement category for its work for wind-energy producer Deepwater Wind. ITHE agency also snagged three Silver Bells, one of which was awarded in the newly created Influencer Relations category for work done for Foster Grant. The Bell Ringer Awards program, which is now in its 50th year, is open to all New England PR practitioners.
R&J Strategic Communications has been awarded two American Graphic Design Awards from Graphic Design USA Magazine and five ASTRA Awards from the New Jersey Communications, Advertising and Marketing Association. R&J was awarded with two web design awards from Graphic Design USA Magazine for their work on the redesign of the Falcon Safety Products new e-commerce website, in addition to the creation and implementation of Polaroid’s Consumer Electronics Show 2018 landing page. Its five ASTRA Awards include a Gold Award given for the agency’s billboard series done for Profeta Farms.
Crosby Marketing Communications has taken home awards for two of its efforts, each of which was recognized by both the 2018 Aster Awards, which are presented by Marketing Healthcare Today Magazine and Creative Images, Inc., and the 2018 Healthcare Advertising Awards. “Domestic Violence Awareness Month -- Caution Signs,” a social media campaign Crosby created for the Department of Defense’s Family Advocacy program, won both a Gold Aster and a Merit Award for integrated communications from the Healthcare Advertising Awards. “Driving Organ Donation Awareness Through Video Content,” a series of Facebook videos promoting organ donation for the Health Resources and Services Administration, received the same two honors.
