Extracted WPP CEO Martin Sorrell today denied visiting a prostitute and paying her with corporate funds, during an interview by New Yorker writer Ken Auletta at the Cannes Lions festival.
Auletta asked for comment about the Wall Street Journal report about WPP investigating the prostitute visit allegation as part of the ad/PR giant's overall probe of Sorrell's personal conduct.
“It’s not true, " Sorrell said.
The 73-year-old founder of WPP said he exited the CEO spot in April because the felt his situation had become untenable and that his departure was in the best interests of shareowners, clients and people inside the company.
WPP's board ended the investigation of Sorrell without releasing any details, other than the corporate sums involved in the probe were not material to the company.
