Sard Verbinnen & Co. serves as media contact for the obituary of Wang Jian, co-founder of beleaguered Chinese conglomerate HNA Group.
The 57-year-old Wang died from a fall on July 3 while sightseeing in Provence during a business trip in France.
The New York Times reports that HNA is trying to tame $90B in debt following a spending spree that included the $6B deal to buy US tech company Ingram Micro and big stakes in Hilton Hotels and Deutsche Bank.
HNA also had an agreement to buy SkyBridge Capital, the firm of former White House communications director Anthony Scaramucci, but that deal collapsed due to close scrutiny by the Committee on Foreign Investment in the US.
In its obit, HNA expressed deepest condolences to Wang’s family. It called Wang “an exceptionally gifted leader and role model.”
SV&C’s Ron Low, Matt Benson and Robert Rendine rep HNA.
