Crosby Marketing Communications has promoted Amy Hitt to the newly created position of senior vice president, director of operations. Hitt has been with Crosby since 1994, most recently serving as vice president, director of print and broadcast production. She has played a major role in managing all vendor relationships to ensure the efficient and cost-effective production and implementation of client projects. In her new role, she will help oversee the agency’s day-to-day operations, resource management and technology initiatives.

5W Public Relations has brought on Jonathan Mark as senior vice president of digital. Mark comes to 5W from Blue Fountain Media, where he oversaw the digital media and marketing practice. He began his career at GREY before launching his own startup, a food-themed social network that he sold to Delivery.com, where he subsequently served as vice president of marketing. Mark has developed and managed digital programs for such clients as Procter & Gamble, Kraft, Sony, Dewars, Bowlmor and Service King. As 5W senior vp, he will provide strategic advice and counsel to agency clients, as well as further developing its digital services and programs.

Lambert, Edwards & Associates has hired Arlen-Dean Gaddy as national director of business development. Prior to joining Lambert, Gaddy was client relationship manager for national leadership development and crisis preparedness firm Jennifer Maxson & Associates and Varnum Consulting, a specialty practice group within a business law firm. At Lambert, Gaddy will be the principal manager of new client relationships throughout the Midwest and coast to coast. His hire follows Lambert’s entry into the New York market.

Karyopharm Therapeutics Inc., a clinical-stage pharmaceutical company, has appointed Ian Karp vice president, investor and public relations. Prior to joining Karyopharm, Karp was at Shire plc, most recently as vice president and global head of investor relations. He previously served as the company’s head of commercial assessment, playing a critical role in Shire’s acquisition of such companies as ViroPharma, Dyax and BaXalt. Before joining Shire, he was senior director for global marketing, emerging oncology brands at MedImmune, an AstraZeneca company. In his new post, Karp will lead all of Karyopharm’s corporate communications activities, including corporate visibility, financial communications, and media and investor relations.
