Fox News has voiced its support for CNN’s efforts to restore Jim Acosta’s White House credentials. CNN filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration on Tuesday to have the credentials restored.

According to a statement from Fox News president Jay Wallace, the network intends to file an amicus brief with the U.S. District Court.

“Secret Service passes for working White House journalists should never be weaponized,” Wallace said in the statement. “While we don’t support the growing antagonistic tone by both the President and press at recent media avails, we do support a free press, access and open exchanges for the American people.”

CNN’s suit asks the court for an immediate restraining order requiring the pass to be returned to Acosta.

The revocation of Acosta’s credentials came in the wake of a brief altercation with a White House aide during the president’s Nov. 7 press conference.
