The Institute for Public Relations will hold its Annual Distinguished Lecture & Awards Dinner on Nov. 28 at New York’s Roosevelt Hotel. Cheryl Boone Isaacs, immediate past president of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will be the featured speaker at the event. The IPR Pathfinder Award will be presented to Dr. Bey-Ling Sha of San Diego State University. Mark Weiner of PRIME Research is to receive the Jack Felton Medal for Lifetime Achievement. Roger Bolton, president of the Arthur W. Page Society, will get the Alexander Hamilton Medal for Lifetime Achievement. Yulan Qin of the University of Florida will receive the Makovsky Best Master’s Thesis of the Year Award, and Jeyoung Oh of the University of Alabama will take home the Don Bartholomew Award for Excellence in Public Relations Research. Hefner Foundation

The Hugh M. Hefner Foundation is seeking nominations for it's 2019 Hugh M. Hefner First Amendment Awards. The awards are given each year to a group of individuals whose work enhances First Amendment freedoms while also bringing attention to important issues where work is still needed. Christie Hefner, founder and chairman of the Hugh M. Hefner First Amendment Awards, established the Foundation in 1979 to honor her father’s work and commitment to free speech and Americans’ First Amendment freedoms. The deadline for submissions is January 14. The awards ceremony will be held at the Newseum in Washington, D.C. in late spring 2019.
