VidCon, a conference for online video and digital creators that was acquired by Viacom earlier this year, has hired Sarah Tortoreti as vice president of marketing. Tortoreti comes to VidCon from the Nickelodeon Experience group, where she was director, marketing & brand strategy, overseeing the marketing, media, and the creative strategy and execution of campaigns to drive brand awareness and ticket sales. She has also served as senior manager, consumer marketing at VH1 and a consumer marketing manager at NBCUniversal. For VidCon, Tortoreti will be in charge of developing and managing all aspects of the brand, overseeing its global marketing strategies, as well as internal and external communications. She will be based in Viacom’s Hollywood office.

Rally, an issue-driven communications firm in Los Angeles, is bringing on Steve Mancini as a principal. Mancini currently serves as both the communications director for the Doris & Donald Fisher Fund, the San Francisco-based philanthropic organization created by the founders of Gap, Inc., and public affairs director for the KIPP Foundation, an education-focused nonprofit. He was previously communications director for the Office of Elementary and Secondary Education at the U.S. Department of Education under the Clinton administration, and taught social studies in Massachusetts public high schools for six years. In his new post, Mancini will work with a diverse portfolio of clients, with a focus on education non-profits and foundations. Based in New York City, he will report directly to RALLY Founder and President Felix Schein.

Public Relations Society of America/Boston has elected its 2019 Board of Directors. Dan Dent, media relations manager at Draper, was named president. He joins a board of 13 that includes immediate past president Erin Callanan, director of media relations at WGBH, and Eric Berman, communications director at The Massachusetts Association of Realtors, who will serve as president-elect. PRSA Boston has also awarded its 2018 Diane Davis Beacon Award, which recognizes a PRSA Boston member for his or her example of exhibiting the highest qualities of leadership, generous service, unimpeachable ethics and professional achievement, to ML Strategies senior vice president Nancy Sterling.
