Weber Shandwick has promoted Jim Wetmore to general manager of its Los Angeles office, a new role under the Weber Shandwick West structure. Wetmore, who has been with the agency since 2014, will continue to lead the healthcare practice for Weber Shandwick West, working with such clients as Amgen, Genentech and the LA LGBT Center. Before coming to Weber, he was executive vice president, west coast market leader at GCI Health. Wetmore will report to Weber Shandwick West president Will Ludlam for his GM role, and to Weber Shandwick global healthcare practice president Laura Schoen on healthcare.

Rhea + Kaiser has appointed Diane Martin, who has been president/CEO at the firm since 2010, into the newly created role of chief strategy officer. In her new position, Martin will assist executive management with client, prospective client and agency strategy, working to formalize the agency’s communications planning processes, evaluating strategic planning tools and identifying resources. Current chief operating officer Stephanie Heusuk will move into the CEO slot, SVP/executive director of agency management and planning Jeff Walter will move into the newly created role of president/chief integration officer, and director of finance Angel Kelpsas will become chief financial officer. Steve Rhea, owner and co-founder of Rhea + Kaiser, will remain as chairman of the board.

Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed George Candon as strategy director, based in Brussels. Candon joins H+K from the Brussels office of FTI Consulting, where he served as managing director and head of crisis management. He was previously head of communications at International Post Corporation. Candon has also appeared as a communications and political commentator on Sky News and has coached c-suite executives in communications strategy and media engagement. H+K global president Lars Erik Grønntun said that Candon’s “depth and breadth of communications and political expertise makes him an excellent asset for our clients at H+K.”

Lambert & Co. has promoted Sawyer Lipari to senior director in the agency’s Detroit office. Lipari has been with Lambert since 2016, most recently serving as director. Before that, she was a publicist for the UJA-Federation of New York and PR assistant manager at beauty-focused brand communications firm Tina Thomson Communciations. The agency has also promoted Darby Dame to senior associate, Drew Hall to analyst and Michelle Connell to director of accounting in its Grand Rapids office.
