Washington Women in Public Relations presented six up and coming female communicators with its 2019 Emerging Leaders Awards on June 18.

The awards honor women between the ages of 25 and 35 who have excelled in public relations and related fields, and given back to the industry by contributing their skills and talents to innovative initiatives and projects.

Thy-Ann Nguyen, managing director and senior vice president at heath and wellness strategic communications agency CURA Strategies, won in the small/boutique agency category. In the mid-sized agency category, the honoree was Stratacomm vice president Jennifer Heilman and Edelman senior brand storyteller Jackeline Stewart took home the award in the global & large agency category.

Courtney Cochran, deputy chief of staff for Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (NJ-12) was recognized for her work in the government sector, while Marine Stewardship Council senior public relations manager Jackie Marks won in the non-profit category. For the in-house sector, the award was given to Laura Ransone, who is associate director of Women in Government Relations.

“The 2019 Emerging Leaders Awards honorees are a diverse group of women who all stand out for their impressive talents, record of achievement and commitment to their communities,” said WWPR President Amanda Cate. “As change-makers and leaders, these women are a fitting tribute to celebrate the event’s 10th year anniversary.”
