Hill+Knowlton Strategies has appointed Lori Small as a director in the US. Small comes to H+K from Golin LA, where she was a VP, with responsibility for brand strategy, media outreach, influencer partnerships and content creation for Disney Consumer Products, the California Avocado Commission and Ste. Michelle Wines. Prior to joining Golin, she was a senior account executive at The Rogers Group. Small will work closely on strategy and innovation with consumer-facing clients and will oversee day-to-day operations across the business with H+K’s core team, based in Orange County, California.

FleishmanHillard has named Marjorie Benzkofer chief strategy officer. Benzkofer has been with the agency since 1997, most recently serving as global managing director of its reputation management practice, a role in which she will continue. Before joining FleishmanHillard, she was a corporate spokeswoman for the companies that are now ComEd and Exelon in Chicago. In this new role, she will focus on developing and executing the agency’s growth plan, shepherding the investment of resources and measuring the collective progress of the agency. “Marjorie has the ability to connect and motivate teams, seeing across the global network and foreshadowing industry trends, which makes her perfectly suited to take on this new role for the agency,” said FleishmanHillard president and CEO John Saunders.

BCW is hiring the Sun’s deputy political editor, Steve Hawkes, to take the position of head of strategic media with its issues and public affairs team in London. Hawkes will start with the agency in October. He has been in his current position at the Sun since December 2013. Before spending six months in 2013 as the Daily Telegraph’s consumer affairs editor, he served as the Sun’s business editor. He has also worked at the Times, Daily Mirror and Evening Standard.

Ferox Strategies, a Latino-led bipartisan government and public relations firm, has brought on Mark Williams as a principal, charged with leading its Republican outreach efforts. Before coming to Ferox, Williams was chief of staff for Rep. Mike Conaway (R-TX). He has also served as legislative director for former Congressman Sam Johnson (R-TX) and chief of staff for former Congressman Todd Rokita (R-IN). At Ferox, Williams’ practice areas will include agriculture, armed services, transportation, infrastructure, tax, education and labor.
