U.S. Bank is bringing on David Palombi as global chief communications officer. Palombi joins U.S. Bank from CVS Health, where he served as senior VP and chief communications officer, with responsibility for corporate reputation, public relations, executive and employee communications, crisis positioning, public affairs and corporate social media, including leading communications for the company's decision to remove tobacco from all 8,000 CVS stores. The Minneapolis-based bank is the fifth largest in the county. It has $467B in assets. Palombi previously led corporate communications for the health insurance company WellPoint (now Anthem) during the debates over the Affordable Care Act, and for the secondary mortgage giant Freddie Mac during its multi-year $5 billion accounting restatement. In his new role, Palombi will lead the company’s public affairs and communications efforts, overseeing internal and external communications, reputation management, and government relations.

Insurance Information Institute has appointed Mark Friedlander as its new Florida-based communications consultant. Friedlander was previously a communications consultant at the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety. Before that, he was head of corporate communications and assistant secretary at The Main Street America Group, a property/casualty insurance carrier. He has also served as chairman of the Insurance Marketing & Communications Association. Insurance Information Institute senior vice president and head of public and media affairs Michael Barry said that Friedlander “will be a great resource for media outlets across the state.”

The Recording Academy has named Lourdes Lopez Patton vice president of communications. Patton was previously senior director, marketing communications at the organization. She has overseen operations including marketing, event management, staffing, financial control, and has managed public relations for national and international member and industry events, including all official Grammy Week initiatives. Additionally, she has managed all aspects of the red carpet and media center for the Grammy Awards and Latin Grammy Awards. In her new post, Patton will oversee the vision and execution of all aspects of strategic internal and external communications for the Recording Academy, including media relations, public relations, corporate communications, and reputation management.
