Journalists covering blockchain, digital finance, cryptocurrency and other FinTech topics will share their insights at the FinTech Meet The Media 2019 conference on Nov. 6 at the Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College in NYC at Lexington Ave. and 25th Street. Speakers at the event are set to include CNBC money editor Jim Pavia, Bloomberg managing editor Rob Urban, Yahoo! columnist Rich Newman and Gertrude Chavez-Dreyfuss, Forex and treasuries correspondent at Reuters. The day will also include a panel of academics with new research in FinTech and a panel of corporate experts. Rural Spirit

Osborn Barr | Paramore is accepting nominations for its second annual Rural Spirit Awards, which honor individuals who are cultivating economic development, innovation and volunteerism in rural communities across the U.S. Three total award winners will be chosen across three categories: Rural Advocacy, Community Service and Next Gen (21 years of age or under). Rural Spirit Award winners will receive $2,000 each to donate to a non-profit organization of their choice––with donations made in the winners’ names. Additionally, winners will have the opportunity for OBP to distribute their story across various digital and traditional media platforms. Winners will be announced and recognized during an awards celebration at OBP’s St. Louis headquarters in November. PRSSA

The Public Relations Student Society of America has announced the U.S. Census Bureau as the subject of its 2020 Bateman Case Study Competition. The competition challenges student teams to research, plan, implement and evaluate a public relations campaign centered on increasing participation in the 2020 Census. Participants will also help in the ongoing efforts to educate people about the value of the census. Entrants in the competition will execute their campaigns in early 2020. Three finalists will present their work to an esteemed panel of judges in May, and the winning teams will be recognized during the Awards Ceremony and Dinner at PRSSA’s 2020 International Conference.
