Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot has named Glenn Eden, executive VP at Weber Shandwick, chair of the city's Choose Chicago destination marketing unit.
The 20-year Weber Shandwick veteran is corporate & technology leader at its Chicago office. He was a driving force behind the creation of the Interpublic unit's "Common Threads" diversity and inclusion program.
In his new post, Eden will promote Chicago and its diverse communities as a top leisure, convention and meeting destination.
Eden takes over from Desiree Rogers, chair since 2013 and appointee of now ex-mayor Rahm Emanuel.
Chicago enjoyed a record tourism year in 2018, attracting 57.7M visitors. They spent more than $16B, which includes $1.1B in tax revenue.
