Sharp Communications has announced the appointment of David Ellis as senior VP, digital and social media. Ellis was most recently VP, digital at Edelman, where he led digital strategy and programming for brands including Samsung, CVS, and Comcast. Before that, he was an account director at Bottlerocket Marketing Group. In his new post, Ellis’ primary responsibilities include overseeing Sharp’s digital practice and leading strategy across the agency’s portfolio of clients in market sectors include luxury lifestyle, architecture & design, arts & culture, health & wellness, financial services and hospitality.

User1st, which provides web and mobile accessibility solutions for testing, remediation, monitoring and compliance, has appointed Raegan Bartlo as VP of marketing and communications. Bartlo comes to the company from the Mortgage Bankers Association, where she was an executive speechwriter. She has also served as senior director for public affairs at the American Legislative Exchange Council and press director for the Georgia State Senate. From 2003-2006, Bartlo served in the George W. Bush Administration as a presidential appointee to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, where she managed public affairs and crisis communications. At User1st, Bartlo will oversee the company’s strategic communications including marketing, brand management, public relations and social media, and serve as the company's spokesperson.

Video game development company Gearbox Software has named Dan Hewitt chief communications officer, a newly created position at the company. Hewitt comes to Gearbox from the Entertainment Software Association, where he most recently served as vice president of communications. He was previously vp of media relations and event management at the organization. Hewittt has also served as director, public affairs and corporate communications at Glover Park Group.
