Evans, who’s responsible for all U.S. marketing activities for the automaker, joined Hyundai in 2015.
AdWeek today reported that Evans told the company he’s resigning to pursue other “career opportunities.”
As U.S. marketing chief, Hyundai won USA Today’s annual award of Super Bowl commercials for its "First Date" spot at Super Bowl 50, which featured comedian Kevin Hart as an overprotective father. It marked the first time a car company had won for an ad during the NFL's championship game.
Prior to joining Hyundai, Evans served as CMO of Subaru of America and CMO of automotive software company Dealer.com. Between 2014-2015, he was CEO and president of San Francisco-based automotive retailing software company LotLinx.
Earlier in his career, Evans was vice president of field marketing at The Cobalt Group and a marketing VP at car-buying lead generator Dealix Corporation (now owned by Autobytel).
