RooneyPartners has brought on Elliot Sloane, who founded financial and crisis communications firm Sloane & Company, as a senior advisor. Sloane was most recently a senior advisor at FTI in its strategic communications division, where he worked on financial communications, crisis and corporate reputation engagements. He started up Sloane & Company in 1998 and sold it to MDC Partners in 2010. Previously, he was at Edelman as executive vice president and general manager of the firm’s New York financial practice. “Elliot’s extensive communications experience and leadership skills, combined with his drive and energy, will position RooneyPartners as a go-to communications consultancy for transactions, shareholder engagement and activism and crisis management, expanding our integrated services platform,” said RooneyPartners founder and CEO Terry Rooney.

Virgo Health, which is part of Interpublic, has appointed Michael Platt as managing director of its New York office, a newly created position. Platt has been with Virgo since 2017, most recently as executive director of Virgo Health New York, overseeing a team of more than 25 medical education experts. Prior to joining the agency, he was president of MedVal Scientific Services LLC, and has also served as president of DesignWrite LLC and CEO of Fission Communications. As New York MD, Platt will work to raise the brand’s profile, spotlighting its increased scientific services, education and design for clients. He will report to Neera Chaudhary, global president of Golin Healthcare and Virgo Health. Golin acquired Virgo Health back in 2012 as a London based operation, and its New York office opened in 2015.

The ACE Agency, a Santa Ana, CA-based agency specializing in public relations, marketing, and event production, has hired Weeda Sanchez as director of marketing and public relations. Sanchez comes to the agency from media company Modern Luxury, where she served as group director of marketing and events, leading communications initiatives in the Southern California region. She has also served as advertising/PR manager at First Team Real Estate and communications director at Prudential California Realty. In her new position, Sanchez will oversee ACE’s public relations and marketing department, guiding the agency’s internal and external communications strategies.
