Albany-based Baker Public Relations has opened a second location in Pittsburgh.
Baker’s new Steel City outpost, which formerly opened in late October, sits in the Terminal Building on Carson Street in Pittsburgh’s South Side.
The agency has tapped former Kansas City Royals senior communications director and Pittsburgh Pirates game day magazine editor Jim Lachimia to help grow and manage the Pittsburgh team. The sports and entertainment specialist will be assisted by content writer Leah Rostohar, who will remain stationed in Baker’s Albany office. Rostohar joined Baker from 24-hour television news station Spectrum News, where she served as producer for the program “Your Morning Albany.” Spectrum is a unit of parent company Charter Communications.
Other Albany-based staff will work in collaboration with the new Pittsburgh team. The agency told O’Dwyer’s that it's currently seeking area talent to further build out its Pittsburgh office, including a director, as well as additional support staff that it plans to add in early 2020 in an effort to better serve clients.
“The opportunities in Pittsburgh are endless,” Baker founder and CEO Megan Baker told O’Dwyer’s. “The revitalization that has taken place has particularly made Pittsburgh appealing to Baker Public Relations as technology, healthcare, energy and hospitality sectors are booming. This has been a dream come true for me personally and a step forward for our agency as we are excited to make our mark on the region.”
Baker, herself a Pittsburgh native, founded the Albany-based agency in 2007. A former TV anchor and reporter, Baker’s firm focuses on communications services for businesses, government and non-profit groups.
