Craig Bloomfield, who was a senior consultant, content development with Akrete as well as collaborating with such marketing services companies as Belniak Media and KTPR Communications, died unexpectedly on Nov. 30.
Bloomfield started his career at Gralla Publications, where he wrote for such publications as Commercial Property News (where he served as senior editor from 1987 to 2000) and National Jeweler.
He subsequently served as vice president/director at FRB/BSMG, a director at Weber Shandwick and a vice president at Jones Lang LaSalle.
Since 2013, he was principal of Bloomfield Communications, which provides such services as marketing strategy, message development and article development, with special expertise in commercial real estate, construction, energy and sustainability and CSR.
“Across the board, Craig is considered one of the best commercial real estate writers over the last few decades in the business,” said Margy Sweeney, founder and CEO of Akrete. “He was a reporter I pitched, a client I served, a collaborator and key member of my team as my business grew, ruthless editor and commiserator extraordinaire.”
A wake in remembrance of Bloomfield will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at Norris Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont Street, West Chicago, Illinois. Funeral Services will be conducted at the same location on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 10:00 am.


Kassie Canter, a media and entertainment PR veteran, died October 24 in New York. She was 67.
Leo Pearlstein, the “king of culinary PR,” died on Sept. 10 in Los Angeles at the age of 104.
Tim Metz, who joined Hill & Knowlton in 1989 after a 23-year career at the Wall Street Journal died Aug. 15. He was 86.
Bill Murray, who had been with MikeWorldWide for 35 years (most recently as EVP/national director, public affairs), has passed away at 67 after a battle with cancer.
Peter Costiglio, a top corporate communications executive for more than 40 years, died March 17 after a long-battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was 76.
