W2O has added veteran biopharmaceutical executive Jonathan Peacock and advertising and digital marketing expert George Gallate to its board of directors. Peacock currently serves as chairman at Arix Bioscience. He has been CFO at both Novartis and Amgen, and has held leadership positions in strategy and corporate finance at McKinsey & Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Gallate is principal at advertising and marketing firm MKTG2.U. He was previously global CEO and then chairman of Havas Digital, helping to build the company into one of the largest digital networks globally. W2O says the appointments are intended to guide its accelerated growth plans.

DeVries Global has promoted Loretta Markevics to chief strategy and creative officer. Markevics has been global managing director of creative intelligence at the agency since 2015. Before coming to DeVries, she was the global strategic lead for Porter Novelli in The Garage, an integrated Omnicom agency model for Hewlett Packard, and has also worked at McCann Erickson and Grey Group. At DeVries, Markevics has led the agency’s culture-first proposition and creation of its proprietary process. In her new post, she will report to regional managing director, DeVries Global, North America Jessica O’Callaghan and partner closely with regional leaders in EMEA and APAC, as well as other members of the global steering committee.

Steinreich Communications Group has brought on Mayer Fertig as VP, working in the firm’s nonprofit practice. Fertig most recently served as chief communications officer for the American Committee for Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. He has also been chief communications officer of the Orthodox Union and senior director of media relations and public affairs for Yeshiva University. Prior to his public relations positions, Fertig was the managing editor for WCBS-AM Newsradio 880, publisher and editor-in-chief for The Jewish Star, and morning drive anchor for Garden State Radio News on stations in New Jersey and the New York City suburbs.
