The American Heart Association has named Katrina McGhee executive vice president of marketing and communications. McGhee was director, marketing of the association from 1996 to 2002. She has most recently served as CEO and founder of Loving on Me Career Success Academy, which works to empower women to take charge of their health, lives and careers. McGhee was previously executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. In her new role, McGhee will serve as the AHA’s chief brand ambassador. She will lead the development and execution of integrated program marketing strategies and community outreach, consistent with the Association's long-term health impact and fundraising goals.

The Insurance Information Institute has hired Mark Friedlander to serve as director, corporate communications. Friedlander has been the organization’s Florida communications consultant since July 2019. He was previously head of corporate communications at The Main Street America Group, a property-casualty insurance carrier headquartered in Jacksonsville, FL. Based in northeast Florida, he will continue to lead the Triple-I’s Florida communications efforts in addition handling national media relations issues and providing editorial support for the organization’s website and social media channels. Kris Maccini is also coming on as the Triple-I’s director, social media. She joins the organization from MetLife, where she was global director, social strategy.

Des Moines, IA-based Kemin Industries has promoted Lauren Burt to head of worldwide communications, a newly created position. Burt joined Kemin in 2016 as worldwide communications manager. Before coming to Kemin, Burt was manager of corporate communications at Meredith Corporation and director of media & marketing for the Greater Des Moines Partnership. In her new host, her duties will include developing strategies and tactics to promote the brand, along with leadership and employee communications, global community engagement and outreach to audiences on multiple platforms. She will continue to serve as the global spokesperson for Kemin.
