Condé Nast has named Danielle Carrig global chief communications officer, a newly created position at the company, effective May 26. Carrig comes to Condé Nast from VICE Media Group, where she also served as global chief communications officer, overseeing a team in North America, Europe and Asia charged with advancing communications strategies. She has also led teams at Netflix responsible for visual communications, events, public relations and talent relations and was senior vice president, communications and public affairs at A+E Networks’ Lifetime cable channel. At Condé Nast, Carrig will head up all internal and external communications, media relations, crisis management and employee engagement. In addition, she will act as a strategic counselor and advisor to Condé Nast CEO Roger Lynch.

Qurate Retail Group, whose subsidiary companies include QVC, HSN and Frontgate, has brought on Ian Bailey as senior vice president, communications and community. Bailey joins the company from Abercrombie & Fitch, where he was vice president, head of communications and public relations. He has also served as principal at Capital C Partners, and executive vice president and general manager of Hill+ Knowlton Strategies’ New York office and Executive Vice President and Managing Director at Weber Shandwick in New York and London. In his new post, Bailey will lead Qurate’s corporate communications, financial communications, internal communications, corporate responsibility and consumer public relations teams.

Everest Re Group, a Bermuda-based reinsurance company, has named Stephanie Merkel vice president, marketing and communications. Merkel joins from Chubb, where she served in a variety of senior marketing capacities within their North America operation. She was previously a senior marketing communications specialist at AIG. Based in Everest Re Group’s Philadelphia office, Merkel will be responsible for leading the day-to-day activity of the marketing and communications team. “Stephanie will work closely with me, our executive team, and the marketing and communications group to focus on promoting the strategic vision of Everest Re Group,” said Everest Re Group head of marketing and communications Dan Lopes.
