UPS has promoted Laura Lane to chief corporate affairs and communications officer. Lane joined the company in 2011 as president, global public affairs. Before coming to UPS, she served as managing director and head of international government affairs at Citigroup and vice president for global public policy with Time Warner. Lane was previously a trade negotiator in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative in the negotiation of China’s entry to the World Trade Organization, the WTO Financial Services Agreement and the WTO Basic Telecommunications Agreement, and served as a diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service from 1990-1997. In her new post, Lane will oversee public policy and government affairs, public relations, employee communications and the UPS Foundation. “Laura is a strategic leader who knows how to seize opportunities, tackle challenges and rally employees to achieve goals,” said UPS chief executive officer Carol Tomé.

Burson Cohn & Wolfe executive vice president and managing director, public affairs Licy Do Canto has been named to the board of Alluma, a nonprofit that connects people to essential services through technology and policy expertise. At BCW, Do Canto drives social impact policy and strategy, and helps shape the strategic direction on diversity, inclusion and belonging for the firm and its clients across North America. Before coming to BCW, he was founder and president of public affairs firm The Do Canto Group. He has also served on the legislative staff of former U.S. Congressman Barney Frank and as an aide to the late U.S. Senator Edward M. Kennedy.

SPM has hired Amanda Seaford as CEO, effective Sept. 1. Current SPM chief executive Patti Winegar will assume the role of vice chair of SPM Group. Seaford was previously U.S. CEO of Mirum/Wunderman Thompson, where she was responsible for eight offices and managed the digital needs of United Healthcare, Mazda, Qualcomm, Epson, Unilever, and the Marines. She has also served as global chief client officer and global CMO at Omnicom digital agency Critical Mass. In her new position, Seaford will provide leadership across all SPM Group companies. Winegar said Seaford “is truly an innovator and engaged leader, with vast experience in digital. Her skills will complement SPM's existing strengths." Earlier this year, SPM Group acquired Centretek, a digital marketing and enterprise website development company for hospitals and health systems.
