Credit Union National Association has appointed Deshundra Jefferson as chief communications officer. Jefferson served as traveling press secretary for the presidential campaign of former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. She was previously a principal at The Raben Group, a director at kglobal and Southern regional communications director for the Democratic National Committee. At CUNA, Jefferson will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to communicate the value of credit unions to policymakers, the media, and consumers. “Deshundra’s skillset spans across many critical areas of communications that we plan to leverage in taking a holistic approach to our advocacy and credit union engagement,” CUNA Chief Engagement Officer Greg Michlig said.

LegalZoom, which provides online legal help, has named John Buchanan chief marketing officer. Buchanan joins LegalZoom from the National Football League, where he was senior vice president of marketing strategy and sciences. He previously held senior marketing posts at Electronic Arts, Adobe and Mattel. In his new post, which he will assume at the end of August, Buchanan will work to drive go-to-market strategies for the company’s products and services. “With John’s grasp of marketplace dynamics and experience building global brands, he is ideally suited to lead profitable marketing strategies,” said LegalZoom CEO Dan Wernikoff.

Prior to joining Tanis, she was vice president of corporate communications at Spansion.
