Heartland Forward, a nonprofit, nonpartisan institute for economic renewal spearheaded by members of the Walton family, has named Blake Woolsey as its chief communications and development officer. Woolsey comes to the organization after having run her own firm, Blake Communications, since 2018. She was previously executive vice president at Fayetteville, AR-based Mitchell from 2008 to 2018, and was a partner and co-owner of Executive Communications Consultants. In hew new role, she will lead Heartland Forward's communications efforts and network management. "Blake has decades of experience in communications and a true passion for the Heartland. Her new role will help increase awareness of the important work we're doing at Heartland Forward, and her knowledge of our region will be invaluable as we look to share and build upon the research and analysis our team has produced over the last year,” said Heartland Forward president and CEO Ross DeVol.

Maverick Public Relations has brought on Stan Wagner as a managing partner. Wagner joins Maverick from engineering design services company urban-gro, Inc., where he served as vice president of marketing, responsible for both the marketing and public relations efforts of the company. His previous positions include director of operations at Sterling Communications, a West Coast tech-focused agency. In his new post, Wagner leads Maverick’s marketing communications for professional services, based out of its City Park office in Denver. “Stan was one of the first marketing professionals to enter Colorado’s newly legal cannabis market and I credit him for bringing me into the industry, so I’m thrilled he is joining the Maverick team,” said Maverick founder Shawna Seldon McGregor.

BlueWillow Biologics has named Donald Cumming vice president of marketing & sales. Cumming was most recently global marketing director at Ranir, which produces oral care products. He has also served as marketing director at Meijer, a senior brand manager at Kellogg and a marketing supervisor at 3M. At BlueWillow, Cumming will have responsibility for marketing and sales operations for the company’s pharmaceutical brands, including the launch of its NanoBio Protect, an alcohol-free nasal antiseptic. “Cumming’s extensive marketing and sales acumen across a range of related business positions his well to enhance the market presence of BlueWillow’s brands and products,” said BlueWillow CEO Chad Costley.

Antares Pharma has appointed Tram Bui vice president of corporate communications and investor relations. Bui will succeed vice president of corporate affairs Jack Howarth, who is retiring on Aug. 31. She joins Antares Pharma from investor relations and communications firm The Ruth Group, where she was senior vice president, investor relations. She was previously a director at KCSA Strategic Communications. “We look forward to leveraging her extensive industry experience and strong relationships with the investment community,” said Antares executive vice president and chief financial officer Fred M. Powell.
