Purple Strategies has brought on Jennifer Kohl, who was communications director for President Obama’s re-election campaign in Virginia, as a senior director. She most recently led the public relations team for Nobel Peace Prize nominee Chef José Andrés and his restaurant group, ThinkFoodGroup. Kohl has also worked as vice president and senior strategist at GMMP and strategic communications advisor to former FDA Commissioner Margaret Hamburg. “Jen’s deep experience advising leaders and operating across government, politics, media, non-profits and corporations is exactly the sort of cross-disciplinary mentality our clients are seeking,” said Purple Strategies co-founder and CEO Steve McMahon.

G&S has named Nicholas Love vice president of digital marketing. Love was previously director of social media at the agency. Before coming to G&S in 2018, he served as director of the social media strategy hub at North Carolina State University and senior director of social media at Ohio State University. In his new post, Love is responsible for client relationships, collaborating across multiple agency functions, overseeing day-to-day operations, and continued expansion of the agency's digital offerings. "Nick has helped pave the way for an easier transition to omnichannel strategies with digital at their core,” said G&S principal and managing director Caryn Caratelli. “For the last two years, he has been a strong voice in helping advance our digital capabilities and shaping the practice into what it is today.”

Abernathy MacGregor has promoted Dan Scorpio to managing director. Based in Chicago, Scorpio joined the firm in 2015. He was previously a director at RF|Binder. Scorpio provides communications, stakeholder engagement and reputation management counsel to executive leadership teams and boards of directors, with an emphasis on transactions, shareholder activism, crisis/litigation and governance matters. He has also developed and executed strategic corporate positioning, thought leadership and investor communications programs. “He has worked on some of the most complicated and sensitive client matters for our firm, helping deliver results that support clients’ business objectives and build value for the long term,” said Abernathy MacGregor CEO Tom Johnson.
