5W Public Relations shops at footwear retailer Payless. 5WPR will work to raise awareness surrounding the relaunch of Payless, which includes the unveiling of an immersive e-commerce platform and new brick-and-mortar retail concept stores, as well as its products, which is now across a range of apparel, accessories and footwear. The first prototype store will launch in December 2020 in Miami, the new home and headquarters for the brand, with plans to expand to 300-500 freestanding stores across North America over the next five years. “Despite being in truly unpreceded times, we saw an opportunity for Payless to relaunch into the US market, providing our community with the affordable, value-driven products they’ve always searched for, now across multiple categories,” said Payless CEO Jared Margolis.
Gagnier Communications handles the listing of Ajax I, a SPAC that raised $750M. The blank check company called Ajax will be listed on the New York Stock Exchange for the purpose of effecting a merger, asset acquisition or other business combination. Dan Gagnier worked the deal with managing partner Jeff Mathews, VP Lindsay Barber and senior associate Jeremy Schulman.

Miami-based Carve Communications lands cloud-based outbreak management software producer OM System to generate coverage for its platform, which provides a way for businesses to manage their COVID-19 response efforts and containment in a closed environment. Carve has also been enlisted to handle all media relations for branded live content marketing platform First Tube Media, raise brand engagement for auto parts online retailer PartsHawk and build brand awareness and consumer engagement for Victrola, a manufacturer of turntables for the home.
