Mattel is bringing on Catherine Frymark as executive vice president, corporate communications. Frymark previously spent over 20 years at Discovery, most recently serving as group senior vice president, communications. She also held a variety of leadership roles at the company, which included leading communications for Discovery’s acquisition and integration of Scripps Networks, home to such networks as HGTV and Food Network. At Mattel, Frymark will be in charge of internal and external communications on a global level. Additionally, she will oversee Mattel’s philanthropic efforts, including the Mattel Children’s Foundation. “Catherine is an outstanding executive, with a demonstrated track record of driving strategic communications during times of growth and transformation,” said Mattel Chairman and CEO Ynon Kreiz.

Kyocera Document Solutions America has named José María Estébanez vice president of corporate marketing. Estébanez has been with Kyocera since 2016, most recently serving as senior director of integrated marketing communications. He previously worked with Kyocera’s European division to revamp their marketing efforts across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Before coming to the company, he served as manager, digital marketing at Deloitte España. “As vice president of corporate marketing, Jose will strategically develop and lead the marketing organization’s overall capability within the US, including product marketing, channel management, eCommerce, sales & marketing technologies and campaigns to drive positive brand equity and awareness,” said Kyocera Document Solutions America president & CEO Óscar Sánchez

Acuity Brands, a lighting and building management firm headquartered in Atlanta, has hired Candace Steele Flippin as chief communications officer. Steele Flippin comes to Acuity Brands from financial services holding company First Horizon National Corporation, where she served as executive vice president and chief communications officer. Her previous positions include vice president, external communications at medical device manufacturer St. Jude Medical and divisional vice president, public affairs at Abbott Laboratories. In her new post, Steele Flippin will be responsible for all aspects of Acuity Brands’ global communications strategy, including corporate communications, media relations, reputation and brand management. Acuity Brands president and CEO Neil Ashe calls her “an award-winning communications leader with a passion for innovation and deep experience leading business transformation.”
