Julian Payne, communications secretary for Prince Charles and wife Camilla, for the past five years is joining Edelman as chair of its EMEA corporate affairs group.
He has handled the public images of the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall in the UK and globally including through charities such as the Prince’s Trust and Prince’s Foundation.
The Mail reports that Payne helped the 72-year Prince conduct royal business via Zoom and launched the 73-year-old Duchess’ “The Reading Room” book club on Instagram.
Before signing on at the royal household, Payne was VP-global PR and corporate relations at Burberry and director of communications at the BBC.
He also did stints at Lynne Franks PR and Henry’s House PR boutique, where he counseled clients such as BT, Virgin Media, ITV and Honda F1.
Ed Williams, president/CEO of Edelman EMEA, called Payne a leader and communicator of the highest caliber.
“He is highly attuned to the reputational challenges that businesses and their leaders face today and has outstanding experience advising high-profile global brands and individuals,” said Williams.

Teneo has hired Philipp Grontzki, who is a 20-year veteran of corporate communications and financial journalism, as a managing director in its strategy and communications group.
Rowan Benecke, who co-founded Zeno Group and helmed Burson-Marsteller's tech practice, has joined McKinsey & Co as director of communications for North America.
BCW has named Golin's Matt Coldagelli EVP and leader of its corporate affairs practice in Chicago.
Abby Bailey, who headed corporate communications for Fedex in its Middle East, India and Africa region, has joined Teneo as managing director in Dubai.
